Description
This poster I worked on is a personal exploration into the world of design, aiming to evoke a strong sense of nostalgia while embracing the clean, geometric aesthetics of the International Typographic Style. I wanted to create something that would immediately transport the viewer to a different time while still feeling relevant in today’s design landscape. The goal was to blend the structured, modern feel of the typographic style with a playful, retro vibe that reminds viewers of an earlier era while keeping the overall design fresh and contemporary.
The design process was both challenging and rewarding, as it required me to carefully balance the past and present in a way that felt cohesive and purposeful. I wanted to pay homage to the timeless principles of design while also infusing the project with a sense of whimsy and fun, something that speaks to the way we perceive nostalgia today. This project ultimately became an opportunity to explore how design can evoke emotional connections to both the past and the future, and the impact of that interplay in shaping the overall aesthetic.

Throughout the design, I embraced a playful approach, experimenting with bold color palettes and familiar motifs, and reinterpreting them through a modern lens. This allowed me to explore new visual expressions of classic themes, adding a layer of creativity and innovation to each element. One design that I’m particularly proud of is the cover I created for "The Ghost Bride." This piece stands out to me due to its unique concept, which blends elements of traditional design with a modern sensibility, resulting in a visually striking and memorable composition. The mix of retro and contemporary influences in this particular piece feels both fresh and nostalgic, and I believe it captures the essence of what I set out to achieve with the entire project.

Reflection
If I were to redo this project, one of the key changes I would make would be to prioritize the placement of the text before finalizing the design elements at the bottom. Ensuring that the typography is well-integrated with the overall composition would enhance the readability and impact of the message. This adjustment would create a more harmonious balance between the text and the graphic elements, ultimately strengthening the poster’s effectiveness.
